Locals being honored by the IN Basketball Hall of Fame

This year’s Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame 2017 Silver Anniversary Team includes Washington High School Varsity Assistant Coach Brandt Shuckman.  Shuckman Graduated as THE school’s 5th leading scorer with 1,178 points and set school records for career assists and career minutes played.  He went 77-19  as four-year starter and two-year captain under Gene Miiller, winning four sectionals, one regional and four Big 8 Conference titles. Shuckman is currently the Varsity Assistant Coach at Washington High School under his former head coach Gene Miiller.    Also being honored at this year’s banquet will be The late Edward “Jingles” Engelhart a member of the Washington High School over 75 years ago.  He  was the leading scorer for the Hatchets’ 1930 state championship team before a lengthy career as coach and AD at Merrillville High School, where they named Engelhart Gymnasium in his honor.  This year’s ceremony will be held March 22 in ceremonies to be held at Primo Banquet Hall in Indianapolis.
