Donald S. Lannan

Donald S. Lannan passed away on March 14, 2017 at his residence surrounded by family.

 

 

 

He was born on June 23, 1924 in Loogootee, Indiana to Leo and Nora (Brown) Lannan.

Donald was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loogootee, a former commander of the VFW, member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He entered the United States Army in March of 1943 and became a Private First Class 779thAnti Aircraft Artillery Battalion Battery D. He served in WWll and was awarded the American Theater Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, and Victory Medal World War II. He was formally the owner of Don’s Cleaners of Shoals, IN, and then went to work at NSA Crane as a boiler operations specialist.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Nora Lannan, his siblings; Martha Seger, Rosemary Bonifer, Pearl Atkins, Glenn Lannan, James  Edward Lannan, Harold Lannan, George Lannan, Robert Lannan, Eugene Lannan, and Virgil Lannan.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years Norma Lannan (Baker). His children; Ronald Lannan of Franklin, IN, Rhonda Laakso (John) of Montello, WI, Michael Lannan (Mary) of Gurnee, IL, his grandchildren; Ryan Lannan (Susy), Jarrod Lannan (Weijun), Romy Kissel (Scott), Tyler Lannan (Cassandra), Nicholas Lannan, JaymesLannan, Arianna Lannan, 7 Great- Grandchildren, his brothers; Charles Lannan (Reva), Marion Francis Lannan and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Very Rev. J. Kenneth Walker at 10:00 am Saturday, March 18, 2017 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday March 17, 2017 from 4:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee.
