Mike Singleton says he’s now an Independent….
A Republican city councilman in Washington says he’s leaving the GOP because of his dissatisfaction with the party at the national level.
Mike Singleton of Washington has been a long time member and supporter of the Republican party but says due to comments and actions of President Donald Trump during the campaign, the transition of power and into the presidency, he can no longer support the party.
Singleton read a prepared statement at Monday night’s city council meeting in Washington in which he emphatically said his decision had nothing to do with the Washington Mayor , City Council, or Daviess County GOP leaders. Singleton says he is becoming an Independent and he’ll serve out the rest of his term on the council.
