Alva Raber

Alva Raber, 89, of Montgomery, passed away at 11:55 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2017 at his home.

 

 

 

He was born October 8, 1927 in Daviess County, Indiana to the late Joe and Barbara (Knepp) Raber.

Alva was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lydia Raber, who passed away March 19, 1997; parents, Joe and Barbara (Knepp) Raber; 3 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; brothers, Henry Raber, John Raber, William Raber and Jerome Raber; sisters, Margaret Graber, Mary Graber, Martha Graber, and Ida Wagler; step-mother, Fannie Wittmer Raber; daughter-in-law, Rosa Jean Raber.

Alva is survived by his children, Delilah (Vernon) Wagler of Montgomery, Clara (Paul) Knepp of Washington, Ernest (Anna Mae) Raber, Wilmer (Joyce) Raber, Paul Raber, Daniel (Leah) Raber, Raymond (Rutha Ann) Raber, Alva Jr. (Susie) Raber, all of Montgomery; 52 grandchildren; 140 great-grandchildren; brother, Herbert Raber.

Funeral services will be conducted at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, February 27, 2017 at the family residence, 7328 E 300 N, Montgomery, Indiana. Burial will follow in Wagler Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Saturday, February 25, 2017 beginning at 2:00 p.m. and will continue until the time of service at the family residence.
