The North Daviess School Board discussed new requirements from the United States Department of Agriculture concerning school lunches.

The Washington Times Herald says the new rules will require additions and revisions to the school lunch program at North Daviess which would limit the number of meals students can charge. It was also change e the collection and forgiveness or debt policies.

Under the new rules, students can charge up to a week’s worth of meals or around $15 worth.  Students not current on the tab will be given a sub sandwich, fruit and milk. The newspaper says Barr Reeve is implementing similar policies due to the federal government agency’s new rules.  The school board votes on the new measures March 20th.

Also discussed at last night’s meeting…

The North Daviess School Corporation will undergo a facilities assessment in the coming months.  Superintendent Bob Bell said that North Daviess Middle-High has never had a full comprehensive assessment.   Schmidt Associates will be looking at parking, landscaping, windows, electrical systems and much more.  Input will be sought from high school employees.  The North Daviess Elementary School will also undergo an assessment but not quite as in depth.  The cost of the report and a findings review will be just under $12,000.
