At Thursday’s Washington School Board meeting, Assistant Superintendent Kevin Frank reported on a 5-Star snap shot of the Washington schools use of technology in the schools. Frank said the report shows proficiency in technology use at all levels but said the system hopes to increase the overall use of technology by students and faculty. Frank said the Washington Schools are in the middle of a big change and a lot has been asked of the faculty, but that the 5-Star evaluators found Washington’s faculty very motivated and eager in training sessions.
And with an eye on future planning, the Washington Board voted to contract Administrative Assistants to look at the future direction of education and make recommendations for the elementary program.
In other business, the Board approved the sale of a small piece of property containing the driveway between the south fence at Allen Field and the YMCA. The parcel had been part of a 99 year lease that had been signed between the Washington Schools and the Y. Bill Summers, represented the Y and asked the Board to rescind the lease on the remainder of the property. In personnel matters, Trey Miller was hired as coach of the boys’ golf team.
