Betty Jean Norris Phillips, 90, of Bloomington, died Wednesday. Betty retired from Indiana University.
She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Ellettsville, and American Legion Burton Woolery Post 18.
She was born May 26, 1926, to the late Walter and Georgia Toon Norris. She married Alva H. Phillips on Jan. 22, 1947. He preceded her in death. Betty is also preceded in death by son Stephen Phillips; grandsons Christopher and Jeremy Phillips; brothers Donald, Michael, Joseph and Walter Norris; sisters Margaret, Elizabeth and Anna Francis Norris, and Mary Lou Bell.
She is survived by daughter Sharon (Robert) Hile; son Frank (Carol) Phillips; grandchildren Alan, Jason, Brad, Greg, Tom and Bill Phillips, David Barber, Marcus and Zachery Hile, Ellen Phegley, Angel Patton, Christina Phillips-Shaw, Mary Beth Phillips Mallon; several great- and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
