School Board votes to spend extra money

The Washington School Board voted to spend $950,000 this month to pay bills for the general fund.   Superintendent, Dr. Dan Roach told the   Washington Times Herald   the funds were not appropriated when the budget was crafted 18 months ago.  Now,  they have the chance to spend those funds before the end of the year.  He says the money will be used for operating expenses for the district and to get ahead on some bills.  The money mostly comes from growing student enrollment and state money from the school system’s tuition support money.  Roach attributed the extra funds to good decisions.  The plan to spend the money still has to be approved by the Indiana Department of Local Government and Finance.
