Washington’s Team Up to Clean Up effort is ridding the city of litter

Washington’s City Council heard a report Monday night on the Team Up to Clean Up campaign.  Washington Mayor Joe Wellman gave us the stats..

 

Council was ALSO  informed about “Can Man”, a successful anti-littering educational program in the local schools. The kids are said to be listening to the anti-littering message, and now it is time to reach the adults. Mayor Wellman said the Council is looking at ways to address littering which is something people want to see.

 

In another effort to clean up the city the Mayor also reported the last of the eleven abandoned houses in the Blight Removal program has been razed.
In other business the Council approved an ordinance expanding the number of city officials who have the power to write citations for code violations. The Council also heard the introduction of proposed ordinances adding state language to the city’s unsafe building ordinance and another that would change the city’s credit card policy.
