The Washington Police Department received a grant last night in the amount of $5000 to pay for their planned update to their interview room to include audio and video equipment. The total cost of the system will be around $24,000. The department had applied for the grant through the Daviess County Community Foundation. Foundation representatives Tom Dudenhoeffer and Dan Roach presented the check to Washington Police Chief Todd Church and Assitant Chief Trent McWilliams.

In other business involving the police department, funds from the police department’s budget were transferred into continuing education. The money will be used for Assistant Chief McWilliams to attend a conference educating officers on combining dispatch centers. Washington City and Daviess County law enforcement and officials continue to explore the possibility of combining the city and county police and sheriff dispatch operations.
