New electric substation to be installed soon

Washington Electric Line Superintendent Randy Emmons will now be the city’s representative to the Indiana Municipal Power Agency.  Emmons agreed to be the new Commissioner for the city as Anita Ash, the electric department’s office manager had requested to step down.  Emmons’ term is indefinite.         The city council unanimously approved Emmons’ appointment at last night’s city council meeting.

Also last night, Emmons updated the council on the replacement of the city’s nearly 50 year old substation…

Emmons added that it was more cost effective to put in the new substation rather than to spend 200 thousand dollars to fix a tap changer on a system that’s been in operation since 1968.
