Deadline approaching to file for open council seat

A caucus is slated for this weekend to fill an open spot on the Washington City Council.

Councilman Jason Petty recently announced plans to move from the city and will be leaving the council.

The local Republican Party will hold a caucus at 9 on Saturday morning to select the replacement.

Four people are vying for the position including local attorney Grant Swartzentruber, the former Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager Tom gress, Executive Director of Community Corrections Diana Snyder and David Dahl a retired engineer who spent many years with Midwest Engineers of Loogootee.

The deadline to file for the office is this Wednesday morning at 9-am.
