Daviess County employees will see larger pay checks next year.   That was the main news coming out of the Daviess County Council’s budget deliberations Wednesday.   After discussing whether to approve a percentage or flat amount raise, the Council voted to give full-time county employees a 2.25% raise in 2017.   Part-time and seasonal employees, who went without a bump in pay for several years until the current budget, will see a 2.5% raise.  In considering mileage reimbursement, the County Council followed the lead of the State of Indiana and set the rate at 38 cents per mile.   The drop from the current rate of 40 cents reflects lower gas prices.   The Budget Hearings continued until around 1:00 pm.

The Council will meet again Thursday morning to complete the budget reviews and conduct regular business.
