Phillip Graham Taylor, 77, of Petersburg, died at 6:47 p.m. Friday at Deaconess Gateway Heart Hospital.


Born June 25, 1939, in Larchmont, New York, he was the son of Phillip F. and Doris Graham Taylor.
A U.S. Navy veteran, he had worked through Union Local 20 as a sheet metal worker. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 3587 and the Petersburg Volunteer Fire Department, and was the Indiana State Volunteer Fire Chief of the Year 2010.
He is survived by his wife, Vivian “Cooky” (Meadors) Taylor, whom he married Dec. 13, 1980; a son, Terry (Tricia) Wornica of Petersburg; two sisters, Janice Cody of Pawling, New York, and Doris (Doug) Hall of Maine; grandchildren Tia (Brent) Rogers, Tara Wornica, Taylor (Morgan) Petty and Trey Wornica; and great-grandchildren Bria, Joley and Briant Rogers.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at V.F.W. Post 3587, Petersburg. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Harris Funeral Home, Petersburg, with a Petersburg Fire Department service at 8 p.m.
