Scholarships Award Luncheon held at Club Lakeview

A select group of Indiana’s best and brightest college students were honored at The Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center.

The Southern Indiana Section of American Society of Naval Engineers (ASNE), Blacks in Government (BIG), the Association of Old Crows (AOC) and the Hoosier Hills Chapter of Federally Employed Women (FEW) hosted a joint scholarship luncheon at Club Lakeview on July 26.

The luncheon honored 14 students who represent the values and missions of each organization, with scholarships totaling $20,200. Those in attendance included scholarship winners, their families and several NSWC Crane employees.

As the employer of a diverse and nationally recognized workforce of engineers and technical professionals, NSWC Crane strongly supports the organizations and their efforts to promote education through scholarship.

The Southern Indiana Chapter of the American Society of Naval Engineers (ASNE-SI), whose purpose is to advance the knowledge and practice of naval engineering and to promote naval engineering as a career field, awarded five scholarships.

Blacks in Government (BIG) awarded one scholarship. The purpose of BIG is to advocate equal opportunity and professional development for black government employees at the local, state and federal government levels and others dedicated to justice for all.

The Hoosier Hills Chapter of Federally Employed Women (FEW) awarded five scholarships.

FEW’s mission is to enhance opportunities for career advancement of women with education and training being a national focus area. The organization also strives to establish and maintain working relationships with federal agencies to advocate for fair personnel laws, policies, procedures and practices.

The AOC awarded four scholarships. The AOC promotes the exchange of new ideas and information, and the dissemination of new research and knowledge in the fields of Electronic Warfare and Information Operations.

NSWC Crane is a Naval laboratory and a field activity of Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) with focus areas in Special Mission, Strategic Missions and Electronic Warfare. The Warfare Center’s research and development efforts support the warfighter by providing capabilities and resources to advance technologies for the military.
