Virginia Street, 83, of Loogootee, passed away at 7:44 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.

Born on August 16, 1932, Virginia was born to Russell and Mary Ellen (Hopkins) Tow in Martin County. She is preceded in death by her parents as well as her brothers, Wilford Tow and Russell Wayne Tow, and her sisters, Beatrice Erwin, Mamie Sheetz, Lucille Randolph, Edith Stevens, and Irene Hutchins, along with her grandchildren Benjamin Street and Ryan Street.

Virginia attended school in Shoals after which she met her beloved husband, Philip Street of Loogootee whom she married on June 11, 1949. She dedicated 34 years serving the children of the community as a cook at Rutherford Elementary School then at Loogootee Elementary School.

Virginia was passionate about her family, dedicating a great deal of love and time attending events for her children and grandchildren and graciously cooking Sunday dinner every week for any family who could visit.

She is survived by her sister, Rosalie Hager, and her five children, Terry (Marsha) Street, Marsha (Joe) Lukomski, Rheta (Doug) Divine, Alan (Patty) Street, and Rob (DeeDee) Street. Virginia was blessed with 11 grandchildren, Karen Wilson, Lane Divine, Joe Wayne Lukomski, Tim Lukomski, Jennifer Sparks, Kyle Street, Kelli Mathies, Teri Becker, Holly Street, Dylan, and Sara Street as well as 13 great grandchildren, Benjamin Wilson, Ayden Wilson, Maddie Lukomski, Alexandra Divine, Colten Sparks, Cade Wilson, Sam Lukomski, Lili Lukomski, Emilyn Sparks, Josie Mathies, Mason Mathies, Gabriel Street, and Baby Mathies who is due to arrive in November.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 18, 2016 at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee. Burial will follow in Goodwill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Sunday, July 17, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee.
