Tuesday Afternoon Accident Sends One to the Hospital and One to Jail

The Washington Times Herald reports an accident occurred just after 1pm Tuesday afternoon that sent a Washington woman to the hospital with a severe leg injury, closed U.S. 50 East near Amish Kountry Korner and one driver arrested.

According to reports from the scene, 54-year-old Monty Sloan from Westphalia was traveling west on U.S. 50 and clipped a school bus driven by Alan Knepp, ended up in the eastbound lane where his vehicle hit a semi-tractor trailer head-on, driven by Dean Odle. The jaws of life were used to extract Shantel Pilk of Washington from Sloan’s vehicle. Sloan, Knepp and Odle were not injured.

Sloan was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated causing Serious Bodily Injury, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of a syringe, and possession of paraphernalia.
