A gathering was held Sunday evening in Indianapolis to remember the people who died in the Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando early Sunday. A dance that was originally supposed to cap the weekend for Indy Pride was postponed and about 300 people met at Old National Center to pray and speak about the shooting. Some in the group said an attack on the LGBTQ community is an attack on all citizens, while some also called for more gun control.

Gov. Mike Pence has directed flags be flown at half-staff at state facilities to honor victims of the Orlando shootings.   He calls the killings a “senseless act of terror.”

Meanwhile, Indiana’s federal representatives have all issued statements concerning the incident. Senator Joe Donnelly said the shootings are tragic and heartbreaking and thanked the first responders.   Senator Dan Coats  and  8th District Congressman Larry Bucshon both said they were  saddened and thinking of those who lost loved ones.
