Members of the Washington Rotary Club received a coveted honor at Wednesday’s meeting when Rotary International’s Southern Indiana Governor, Jim Bright, presented the Club with the Rotary International Presidential Citation.

Bright listed the ways local Rotarians had served the community: providing the “I Like Me” books to area kindergarten students, and Dr. James Madison’s book, “Hoosiers and the American Story” to middle school students. Also the local Rotary was recognized for providing scholarships to area seniors, for  the club’s on-going Cherry Tree Project, and assisting in the celebration of the city’s Bicentennial and other projects and endeavors.

In presenting the award to local Rotary President Theresa Heidenreich, Bright told the local Rotarians that the award “puts you in a pretty elite group….you do so many things here.”   The Washington Rotary Club meets at noon each Wednesday in the education rooms at Daviess Community Hospital.
