Charles Maxwell Jr., 92, of Petersburg, died at 2:10 a.m. Thursday in Evansville.

 

 
Born Feb. 14, 1924, in Gibson County, he was the son of Anna Faye (Harvey) and Charles Maxwell Sr.
A U.S. Army veteran, he had been a self-employed barber from 1944 to 2011 and worked in many areas of Indiana and part of Florida. He was a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows and Glendale Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by a daughter, Katie Jo Rumble of Washington; a daughter-in-law, Anita Maxwell of Otwell; a brother, Ival Maxwell of Marion, Illinois; grandchildren Brian Maxwell, Dustin Rumble, Eric Rumble and Bridget Cannon; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
His wife, Kathleen G. Maxwell, whom he married April 1, 1945, died May 28, 2001. Also deceased is one son, Eugene Maxwell; one brother, Lee Maxwell; one grandson, Bradley Maxwell; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Harris Funeral Home, Petersburg. Burial will be in Walnut Hills Cemetery.
Visitation is from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
