Weekend Accidents

Helicopters were dispatched to crashes in Daviess and Martin Counties….

-Accident reports were not complete, however police logs state there was a one car crash at 11:30 last night on Daviess County Road 150 north.  Air Evac was dispatched.  One person was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital by Southwest Medical and the helicopter was headed there.   Authorities were on the scene for about an hour.

-A driver was flown to an Evansville Hospital after a 4:24-pm crash on Sunday in Martin County. The head-on collision happened near Hickory Ridge on State Road 450.  55-year-old Carolyn Sims of Shoals was west in a 2001 PT Cruiser and entered a curve going left of center.  She hit an oncoming 2010 Explorer driven by 44-year-old Julia Jackson of Shoals.   Two passengers in Jackson’s vehicle, 61-year-old Ruby Staggs and a 12 year old were taken to IU Health in Bedford.  Sims was taken to Daviess Community Hospital in Washington and later flown to St. Mary’s in Evansville.

At 2:18-pm on Sunday, there was a car deer crash on I69 at the 57 mile marker.  A pickup hit the animal.  There were no injuries.

-At just after 10 last night, a motorist called city police reporting a deer had ran into her vehicle as she was traveling on Gateway Drive toward Washington.

-At 3:35pm Sunday, a Washington City Police officer reported he was on his way to an accident and was traveling on Gateway Drive with lights and sirens activated.  He stopped at 50 and Gateway to make sure the way was clear when a vehicle traveling west stopped quickly and was hit in the rear by another vehicle. There were no injuries in that crash.
