Steven Ray McCracken, 69, of Washington, went to his Heavenly Home on May 21, 2016. 

He was born on September 3, 1946 to Harold and Hazel (Barber) McCracken. He was a 1964 graduate of Washington High School. On September 23, 1967 he married the love of his life, Jo Ann (Armes) McCracken. Steve retired from Basiloid Products in Elnora and farming. He also worked at U.S. Railway in Washington, IN and Junction City, Ks. Steve was a member of New Hope Christian Church of Washington, IN where he had taught the Young at Heart Class, led a Small Group and served on the Fellowship Ministry. He also took part in The Journey and was a member of the Southwest Indiana Walk to Emmaus. He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, playing cards with his friends, was an avid John Deere and HO model trains collector, and was a big fan of IU Basketball.

Steve is survived by his wife, Jo Ann (Armes) McCracken; children Eric McCracken, Shelly (McCracken) Hill (Scott), Jeffrey McCracken (Adrienne), Matthew McCracken (Janessa); grandchildren Branden Hill, Kaitlin Hill, Owen McCracken, Madelyn McCracken, Austin-Bree McCracken, Justin Hill, and Whitney (Hill) Catt; 4 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and sibling Kathy (McCracken) Jeffers (Dave) of Florissant, MO; and father Harold McCracken. He is preceeded in death by his mother, Hazel (Barber) McCracken, his grandparents, William and Inez McCracken and Owen and Ida Barber and grandson Jacob McCracken.

The funeral service for Steve will be Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 10:30 am at New Hope Christian Church, 559 E. 100 S., Washington, IN 47501 with Pastor Russ Jordan and Pastor Joe Coquillard officiating. Interment will follow the service at Bethany Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 from 4-8pm and Wednesday, May 25, 2016 from 9:30-10:30am all at New Hope Christian Church.
