Tuesday’s storms did involve tornadoes

Touchdowns reported in Greene and Vanderburgh Counties.

Tornado activity has been confirmed from Tuesday’s storms that rolled through. The twisters were in Greene County and in Evansville.

The EF-0 twister with peak winds of 85 mph was on the ground near Worthington for about a minute and traveled about 175 yards, damaging a barn. It had a maximum width of 75 yards.

The National Weather Service says an EF-1 tornado with peak winds of 100 mph carved a 7½-mile path north of Evansville. It damaged at least eight buildings and downed utility poles and lines.  It also peeled up a metal roof and uprooted dozens of trees.  That tornado had a maximum path width was 250 yards. It was on the ground about 10 minutes.

There was also a confirmed tornado that day in Boone County.
