Washington police charge Carmodo Leake after a Thursday traffic stop

-Washington City Police arrested a Washington man for dealing meth and resisting arrest on Thursday.  Detective Sergeant Brandon Garland conducted a traffic stop on 38-year-old Carmodo Leake on Northwest 2nd at 4:45pm.  Leake was known to be driving with a suspended license.  Upon stopping, Leake got out and ran.  He was captured on West South Street by Garland and Officer Rodney Helderman who assisted.  Police report Leake tried to conceal about 39 grams of meth in his mouth.  The meth was worth about $3900.  Also found on his person was marijuana and cash.   After what’s known as a “free air sniff” from the city’s K9 unit, Diesel, more marijuana was found in Leake’s vehicle.  Leake was jailed for dealing meth, possession of marijuana, resisting law enforcement resulting in bodily injury and maintaining a common nuisance.

-More details were released yesterday concerning Wednesday’s drug arrest in Washington.   As reported yesterday, 60-year-old Diane Lents, 37-year-old Jonathan Waggoner and 32-year-old Eric Logston were arrested on meth and nuisance charges Wednesday night.  The charges stem from a 10-pm traffic stop on Dewey Avenue where the city’s k9 officer, Drago, indicated the presence of illegal drugs.  Meth, marijuana, paraphernalia and syringes were located in the car.  The stop was initiated when police say Lents failed to signal a turn.

-Washington Police arrested 36-year-old Bryan McIntire Thursday for driving while suspended.  Bond was posted.

-The Daviess County Sheriff’s Department booked 23-year-old Travis Peterson into the Security Center at 7:23 last night for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.  No bond was set.
