Doris M Traylor

Doris M Traylor, age 92, lifelong resident of Loogootee, went to be with her Lord Monday, March 21, at 8:40 pm at Memorial Healthcare and Hospital in Jasper, Indiana, following a long term lingering illness.

She was born August 23, 1923, daughter of Lewis and Mabel (Downey) Summers, both deceased. She was first married to Joseph B Nordhoff, deceased, and then to Charles Edward Traylor, deceased. Survivors include a son, John Nordhoff and his wife Juliana (Steffen) Nordhoff of Bloomington, Indiana. Three Grandchildren, Chad Nordhoff of Muncie, Indiana, Brandon Nordhoff of San Diego, California, and Kimberly Nordhoff of Austin, Texas, two great grandchildren, Corrina Sue Nordhoff and Ella Marie Nordhoff of Upland, Indiana. Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Ernie (Louise) Bradley of Loogootee and one sister in law Mrs. Charles (Viola) Summers of Loogootee. Three brothers and one sister pre deceased her, James Summers, Joseph Summers, Charles Summers, and Mrs. Robert (Margaret) Cantrall. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Doris worked at NWSC Crane for 27 years. After retiring from Crane she was elected and served as City of Loogootee Clerk Treasurer for 15 years, then served on the City of Loogootee Common Counsel for four years. She had also worked at the Jefferson Army Proving Grounds in Madison, Indiana for five years. She had been a member of local organizations such as the Daughters of Isabella, VFW and American Legion Auxiliary.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Very Rev. J. Kenneth Walker at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 28, 2016 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loogootee. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be held Sunday, March 27, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions or masses may be offered at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loogootee.
