Vincennes Fire Chief says LAM house fire cause is undetermined

Vincennes Fire Chief Sonny Pinkstaff says the cause of a house fire in the 11-hundred block of Broadway Wednesday remains undetermined at this time.

He says they couldn’t rule out a faulty gas meter was somehow involved in igniting the blaze which destroyed the two story home at 1131 Broadway.

The house was being utilized as a transitional home for men in the Life After Meth Program. All five occupants of the home managed to get out safely.

Firefighters were dispatched around 3:30 am Wednesday and remained on the scene for most of the day putting out hot spots.

Battalion Chief Neil Napier indicated the house was a total loss. The fire remains under investigation.
