City Council looks at several ordinances

The Washington City Council looked at several ordinances at last night’s meeting.

One ordinance was approved which would restructure the police department by adding a third detective who would have primary responsibility for drug investigations.

Another proposed ordinance would realign job descriptions in the building commissioner’s office.

The council heard the first reading of an ordinance, that would confine mobile homes to trailer parks.  Under the proposed ordinance,  existing mobile homes would be grandfathered into the new ordinance..

The Council also passed a resolution to move forward with a Solar Panel “farm” .  Mayor Wellman tells us a little more..

The area is located on 23 acres formerly owned by the City on Cosby Road.  Work in the Solar Farm will begin as soon as weather permits and should be completed in about 4 months.

The Mayor also announced a public informational meeting about the I-69 interchange area will be held at Antioch Christian Church from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday.
