Washington Mayor answers questions about I69 Development rumors

Washington Mayor Joe Wellman talked to us over the weekend in depth about his recent two week trip to Japan to promote Washington to develop relationships to eventually hopefully lead to economic development in the city.

Speaking on WAMW’s Focus on the Community Saturday, the Mayor answered a point blank question from show host Dave Crooks as to what he could confirm concerning rumors that a plant such as Mazda or Nissan would be locate here…

The mayor stressed again that the Japanese are very relationship oriented and look years down the road when deciding to make an investment in the community.  However, due to the city now having I69, and the infrastructure improvements that have been made prior to the interstate being opened, and as it was being constructed, have placed Washington in a fast track situation when it comes to attracting industry.
