Plan Commission says no to storage facility

The Washington Plan Commission voted unanimously not to consider a zoning change request at their Wednesday meeting.

Ray Lengacher asked the commission for a parcel of land just north of the CSX tracks on the east side of Eastside Park Road be rezoned from R-1 which is  single family residence to C-2 Commercial to allow him to build a four building storage facility.

Several residents of the White Ridge Subdivision, which adjoins the property, were unanimous in their opposition.  Most of those who spoke against the request objected to the change in the character of the neighborhood and the negative affect the storage facility would have on the adjoining homes.   After hearing presentations from Lengacher’s representative and the area residents, the Plan Commission voted no on the request.

In other business, the Plan Commission heard suggestions about restrictions on the placement of Type III manufactured housing outside of mobile home parks, and changes needed to prepare the area of the I-69 interchange for industrial and economic development.
