Pike County Schools ready to put their strategic plan into place

Strategic planning was the topic of most of  last night’s Pike County School Board meeting.

A little less than a year ago, the corporation teamed up with John Siebert of Siebert Consulting who helped the corporation to begin the process of planning to get out of debt and improve the corporation as a whole in all aspects.    A survey was handed out and 800 people responded.  Mission and Vision Statements were drawn up.  Task forces and goal setting teams were formed to address, finances, communication in the corporation, learning environments and much more.

Last night,  the Goal Team Leaders presented an overview of each part of the plan.  Leaders expressed goals of getting out of debt by 2018, or hiring a full time School Resource Officer, of improving communication between students, staff and parents.  Also there are goals of doing better with staff development to include all employees and all that a student may come in contact with during the school day and not just teachers.

Board President David Waltz is very pleased with the plan…

The board is expected to formally adopt the plan at their March meeting.
