Superintendent Glenda Ritz will have some competition in this years election. Yorktown Community Schools Superintendent Jennifer McCormick has announced that she will be running on the republican ballot for Ritz’ position. She is the first person other than Ritz to formerly enter the contest after what has been a rough couple years between Ritz and other state leaders. Let’s not forget Ritz did have a very brief and ill-fated campaign for Governor last year that de-railed due to lack of support and funding controversy. McCormick has been the Superintendent for Yorktown schools in the Muncie area since 2010 and has been with the district for more than a decade. She is a Purdue graduate who earned a doctorate from Ball State and Indiana State. She has already announced plans to hold events over the next two days in Jeffersonville, Evansville, South Bend, and Fort Wayne.
