Alta Reatha (Miller) Swartzentruber, 93, of Montgomery, IN

Alta Reatha (Miller) Swartzentruber, 93, of Montgomery, IN, went to her heavenly home at 1:07 a.m. Saturday, January 9, 2016 at her home.

She was born January 2, 1923 in Daviess County, Indiana to the late Joseph and Fannie (Lichty) Miller.

Alta married Elmer Swartzentruber December 31, 1944 and he preceded her in death November 2, 2015.

She was a charter member of Providence Mennonite Church and active in the congregation many years teaching Sunday School and Bible School and a member of Ladies Sewing Circle. She was a Tupperware representative and an honorary member of the Daviess Community Hospital Auxiliary. Her favorite activity was quilting. She made hundreds of quilts, especially for children, and enjoyed giving them to relatives and friends.

Alta was preceded in death by her husband; parents; 5 siblings; 6 in-laws, 1 son-in-law and 2 great-grandsons.

She is survived by daughters, Judi (Owen) Wagler and Treva (Simon Jr.) Wagler of Jerome, MI; Marla (Gayle) Armes of Scottsdale, AZ; Donna Yoder of Jasper and Beth (Roger) Walton of Iron Station, NC; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 3 siblings; 7 in-laws; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Providence Mennonite Church in Montgomery. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 15, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, January 16, 2016 from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at Providence Mennonite Church.
