Ruth W. Brown, 89, of Washington

Ruth W Brown, Washington, passed away on Monday December 15, 2015. She was born June 27, 1926 in Waldron, Indiana to Ben and Goldie (Crosby) Weintraut.

A 1944 graduate of Waldron High School, she worked as an x-ray technician in Arizona and traveled from California to Virginia serving as a nanny. After marriage, she worked for the General Electric Company, Motor Division in Linton and retired after 25 years of service. She loved IU basketball, mushroom hunting, playing euchre and dancing. 

She married Charles William (Bill) Brown of Alfordsville on December 2, 1948 who preceded her in death. 

She is survived by her daughter Brenda (Dean) Sobecki of Washington and grandson Gregory Bohnert of Sorrento, Florida. A daughter, Barbara Brown, preceded her in death. 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 17 at Ed Lee Mortuary from 4-8 pm. A wake service will be at 3:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday morning from 9:00 – 9:45 a.m. at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church on Friday December 18, with celebrant Reverend Gordon Mann. Burial will be in Stafford Cemetery south of Linton.
