The Daviess County Council approves several appropriations on Wednesday

The Daviess County Council approved a $278,000 joint request for additional appropriations from the Daviess County Economic Development Foundation and the Daviess County Economic Development Corporation for the Daviess Community Hospital project.

The council approved additional appropriations for the courthouse and several county offices and departments.  Requests came from the Prosecutor’s office for an additional $50,000 for pauper attorneys, and from the Coroner’s office for an additional $5,000 for autopsies.

The Sheriff’s Department requested additional E-9-1-1 funds to pay for an improved program and equipment to notify the volunteers for the county’s several township and community fire departments.  Other funds would be used by the highway department to pay for E-911 signs for the overpasses on I-69.

Most of the additional appropriations were either for funds already received as part of matching or pass-through grants.

The Council also approved several fund transfers within the budgets of county offices and departments.

During the meeting, the Council asked Highway Commissioner Phil Cornelius about the problems with the approaches to several of the I-69 overpasses.  Cornelius told the Council he was in discussions with INDOT, but in the end the County would probably end up doing the repairs.
