The long awaited opening of the 27-mile stretch of I-69 from Crane to Bloomington is finally here. (Section 4)
A groundbreaking ceremony is being/was held today. (Wed) For officials at Crane Army Ammunition Activity, the extension means added safety by having the explosive loaded carriers not traveling through local communities. It’s also a quicker route for commercial truck drivers getting to and from Crane.
Crane Army Ammunition Activity Deputy Director for Depot’s operations, Dennis Sickle says he is excited about the I-69 extension.
The first three sections of the I-69 expansion were opened at the end of 2012. Section 5, connecting Bloomington to Martinsville is under construction and expected to be completed in 2016.
