Alliance Barrier Films East of Washington, which makes plastics for the packing industry, is investing five million dollars into a new line expected to start running in January.

The Washington Times Herald says it should add 12 to 15 jobs to the 20 already employed at Alliance.  The company started operating two years ago on Industrial Park Drive.  The company borrowed some money from Radius Indiana to start the expansion but is primarily paying for the expansion themselves.  City leaders and officials are currently working on tax abatement for the project.

The paper went onto report that private developers are constructing a $2 million, 50,000 square foot warehouse adjacent to the Alliance Barrier plant.

In addition, a new rail siding is being built on the east side of town which will help Alliance get goods delivered directly to them.
Officials say they are currently working on tax abatement for the project. Other than some seed money in the form of a loan from Radius Indiana, the company is funding the expansion on its own.
