The Washington Community School Board unanimously approved the certified teacher contracts in a special Thursday night meeting.

Superintendent Dan Roach says the teachers approved the agreement on Wednesday. The agreement calls for a 2 to 3 percent increase based on years of experience.

Roach says only the teachers with an effective or highly effective rating will receive the raise.  However, due to delays in getting the letter grade evaluations…the raises won’t take affect until next year as those grades are not expected to be received until January.

Roach says the budget was limited as to how much of an increase could be offered..

In addition there’ll be a change in health insurance plan Roach says there will be a slight increase.  However, he said  a wellness program gives employees a chance to earn back $200 from their deductible.

The board also approved raises for administrative staff and non- certified positions, minus the superintendent.  Those amounted to about a 2.5 percent raise.
