State police make two separate drug arrests in Loogootee

A Loogootee man is in jail after officers arrest him on an outstanding warrant and find his stash of narcotics.
Just before 11-am on Friday, state police along with Martin County officers went to 1408 Reinhart Road in Loogootee looking for 32-year-old James R. Honeycutt.  He was wanted on a warrant for intimidation, resisting law enforcement and drunk driving.  Officers did not locate him there but learned he might be at Country Place Apartments.  After arriving there, a woman identified as Honeycutt’s girlfriend let the officers in and Honeycutt was found hiding in a closet.
State Police say as they were looking for Honeycutt at his home they report they saw drug paraphernalia on a bed and obtained a search warrant and with the help of Loogootee’s k9 unit, drugs, marijuana and more paraphernalia were found.    Later it was also learned that Honeycutt was in violation of a verbal trespass order at the apartments.   He faces numerous charges at the Martin County Jail.

State Police say a Loogootee man fled from police Thursday night, was caught and is facing drug and other charges.

A Martin County deputy pulled over a Pontiac Sunfire at Mill Street and Northwest 2nd late Thursday for disregarding a stop sign.  The officer spoke with the driver, 41-year-old Troy Arvin. Meanwhile, a state trooper and Loogootee Police officer were summoned for assistance. Upon arriving, a k9 unit and officer conducted an open air search when the dog gave an indiciation of drugs in the vehicle.  The state trooper ordered Arvin out of the vehicle, he refused and fled in the vehicle.  A short pursuit ended when Arvin stopped.

The investigation led to a search warrant for Arvin’s home where  meth, marijuana and paraphernalia were found.

Arvin is facing dealing, possession and nuisance charges as well as resisting law enforcement and obstruction of justice.
