Yesterday afternoon an Indiana State Police Trooper and an officer with the West Baden Police Department responded to a residence in French Lick, for a report of a physical domestic situation. Officers were told a man was strangling his wife. They tried to talk to the unidentified man who fled to a garage behind the house. As the officers attempted to talk to the guy, he picked up a large metal pipe from a pile of scrap and began approaching the officers. After repeated commands for the man to stop, officers fired a Taser, but it was ineffective. That’s when the officers fired their handguns at the man killing him. Names of those involved will be released at a later time. Investigators are still processing the scene.
