Indiana State Police are investigating an officer involved shooting in Sullivan County that resulted in no injuries.

At noon on Sunday, a Sullivan County Sheriff’s Deputy and Jasonville City Police Officer were conducting surveillance on a residence in Hymera. A man there was wanted on warrants out of Delaware County, Indiana.

A car pulled into the drive and the two officers attempted a stop. Two females got out while a male passenger moved to the driver’s seat. The officer told the man to show his hands and get out of the car.  The suspect refused and backed into the police car.

The Sullivan County Deputy then fired is .40 caliber service weapon into the right rear window of the car.  The suspect fled a short distance until the car became stuck in a ditch.  The suspect then fled on foot and was quickly caught without incident on the front porch of the home.

Arrrested was 27-year-old Gregory Bruce Grider of Muncie, Indiana.  The home was his grandmother’s and it was her and a girlfriend who got out of the vehicle when it stopped in the drive.  Grider was wanted in Muncie for strangulation and battery in front of a child and for questioning in a shooting incident their.  Charges in Sullivan County for trying to flee police are pending.
