Shirley J. Ferguson, 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones at her residence on Tuesday. She was born May 22, 1936, in Linton, to James and Olma Este-Mae (Corbin) Blackmore. Shirley married her sweetheart, Donald L. Ferguson, on March 5, 1955.

Shirley was a member of the Odon First Christian Church and the White River Valley Antique Association. She was a systems analyst at Crane for 30 years before her retirement in 1991. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, family gatherings, collecting antiques and pottery.

Survivors include her husband, Don Ferguson; two daughters, Dana L. (Gerald) Sims of Sumter, South Carolina, and Jama (Steve) Britton of Odon; four grandchildren, Donnie (Jeni) Britton, Jessica (Stan) Lee, Auddra (Mike) Livingston and Erick D. Sims; three great-grandchildren, Karson, Evelyn and Nate; and one sister, Betty Bays of Bloomington.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents and a half brother, James Blackmore.

Graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon, where she will be laid to rest. Pastor Richard Crabtree will officiate.

Family and friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Odon First Christian Church.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Odon First Christian Church Building Fund, the Travis Burkhart Foundation or the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
