Departments present raise requests…milling and paving start this week.

Members of the Fire, Police, and Electric Departments presented salary and benefit request for next year to the Washington City Council on Monday.

The general request was for a 5% increase in pay.  The police department also requested takiing comp days rather than overtime pay and a cell phone stipend since most officers use their personal phones for department business.  I

In addition to a general pay raise the Electric Department also requested that stand-by pay be raised to $150 and also requested cell phone stipend.

In other action from regular city meetings, the Board of Works and Safety approved a request from Brandt Powden with Leadership Daviess County.  He was asking   to block off West 3rd  between Main and VanTrees for an Open Market on August 8, and Oct. 10.

Milling and paving of some city streets will be taking place in the coming days.
