County Commissioners met this morning

The Daviess County Commissioners had a short agenda for Monday morning’s meeting.   The Commissioners heard that the wet weather has affected projects on the county’s roads.    County Engineer Jason Heile reported that the wet weather has the Odon-Cannelburg Road Safety Project running about three weeks behind schedule, and County Highway Superintendent Phil Cornelius said the Division Line Road has not been started due to the weather.

In other business, Richard Burch of Midwest engineers received permission for the City of Washington to impinge on county right of way while replacing two water mains.  The Commissioners also approved a letter asking the Indiana Railroad to give proper attention to road crossings in and around Odon.  Commissioners President Michael Taylor commented the grade crossings in the Odon area are very rough.
The Commissioners also approved an oil and gas lease with Riverside Petroleum for, what County Attorney Grant Swartzentruber said was a very small parcel of county owned land, and a grant application for funds to extend the Daviess County Airports taxi-way to parallel the entire length of the runway.
