Sullivan County crashes result in injury

Two accidents happened within minutes on US 41 in Sullivan County Monday evening.

State Police report the first occurred just before 6-pm at 41 and 48 I Shelburn when 53-year-old Casey Archer of Carbon, Indiana was south on 41 and turned left onto 48.  He drove into the path of a car driven by 21-year-ols Sean Wansley of Greenwood.  Archer was cited for failure to yield.  His 59-year-old wife Donna was taken to the hospital in Terre Haute complaining of back and neck pain.

Then at 6:08-pm, emergency crews responded to a three vehicle crash at 41 and State Road 54.  A vehicle driven by 35-year-old Kevin Dash of Sullivan was south and turned left onto 54.  He drove into the patch of car driven by 31 year old Jared Wilkes of Shelburn.  Wilkes was north 41 and spun around after hitting Dash.  Wilkes’ car then hit a pickup in the passing lane operating by 41-year-old James Reed of Shelburn.  Dash was taken to Sullivan Hospital and later airlifted to Methodist in Indianapolis for cuts to the head.  His son, 14-year-old Devon Dash was taken to Sullivan Hospital for cuts and pain to the back, leg and stomach.  He was later flown to Riley in Indianapolis for further treatment.  Kevin Dash was cited for failure to yield and for not wearing  a seatbelt.
