Daviess Commissioners met Monday

In a regular meeting on Monday, The Daviess County Commissioners approved the transfer of three parcels of property to the Daviess County Economic Redevelopment Foundation.  A fourth parcel was retained by the county as an environmental mitigation area for the highway department.  The parcels totaled around 35.6 acres   The land was acquired from INDOT as surplus ground after the construction of I-69.  Most of the property is near the SR 58 interchange.

 

In other business the Commissioners approved an inter local agreement with the City of Washington for the use of the City’s Building Commissioners Office to administer the County’s Zoning Code, approved an agreement with Region 8 Work Force Development, and approved a revised credit card policy for the county offices and departments.

 

Daviess County Emergency Management Director Paul Goss reported the County had purchased two portable light towers to be used in emergencies with an $18,000 performance grant awarded by the state.   The Commissioners also reappointed Deron Steiner and Angie Swartzentruber to the Daviess Community Hospital’s Board of Governors.

 

In addition the 2016 budgetary process got underway with several agencies presenting budget requests at the meeting.
