Former U.S. Representative Baron Hill says he’s ready to enter Indiana’s U.S. Senate race to replace retiring Republican Dan Coats.
Hill, a Democrat sent an email to supporters saying that he intends to file his paperwork today to begin his Senate campaign. Hill says he’s running “because working people across Indiana need a fighter” who’s on their side.
The former five-term congressman is the first Democrat to enter the race.
