The Daviess County Democratic Party will try again tonight (Tuesday) to find additional candidates for the Washington General Election Ballot this fall.

Over the weekend, the local party bought ads on Facebook attempting to target local Democrats to run for office, become Precinct Committee members or simply join the newly reorganized political party.

County Chairman Dave Crooks says tonight’s meeting will be an indicator if the local party has any local residents who want to be placed on the fall ballot.

Currently, Republicans are unopposed in six of the city’s nine races which include Mayor, Clerk-Treasurer and four Council seats. The party has until the end of June to hold a caucus and add additional candidates to the General Election ballot. Interested Democrats should attend tonight’s meeting at 6:30pm at the Washington Eagles Lodge
