Monroe City road closing

The Indiana Department of Transportation will close a section of State Road 61 in Knox County starting Monday for yard grading and sod replacement.

Contractors will close 61 in Monroe City from the north side of the 5-Points intersection to State Road 241.

This will also allow road crews to do finishing work inside of each of the inlets. The closure from 10th Street to S.R. 241 will also continue for storm sewer, sidewalk, curb and pavement work once crews are finished. That project is slated to wrap up later this year.

Local traffic will have access to the 5-Points intersection during the project.

INDOT also says that parts of U.S. 50 will also be restricted during this time as crews work to seal concrete joints. Work on U.S. 50 will be restricted to one 12-foot lane both east and westbound in some areas.
