Mother accused of leaving child in car charged with neglect

DANVILLE, Ind. (AP) — A central Indiana woman who called police saying she awoke

to find her 2-year-old daughter and car missing is facing preliminary charges of neglect

of a dependent after police say she apparently left the child in the car on the side of the

road.

The Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office says a passer-by found the child about 7:30 a.m.

Sunday, four hours after 27-year-old Logan Wardle of Danville reported her missing.

Police say a witness said Wardle stopped at his residence about 11 p.m. Saturday,

saying she was lost and asked for a ride home and never mentioned the child or

vehicle.

A message seeking comment from Wardle’s attorney, Michael Joe Manning, was left at

his office Sunday by The Associated Press. Wardle was detained on an outstanding

theft warrant.
