Police chase in the White River Bottoms

A Pike County police chase ended when the suspect drove his vehicle into the river bottoms.
State Police report that Trooper John Davis was patrolling on State Road 61 north of Petersburg at 11:50-pm last night. He saw a GMC truck driving left of center at the White River Bridge. When the trooper attempted a traffic stop, the driver turned onto a farm access road and accelerated into a cornfield.
The pickup stopped after eventually ending up in three feet of water.
After a brief altercation, 53-year-old Harold Mark Wilson of Monroe City was arrested and taken to the Pike County Jail. Police report he had a blood alcohol content of .10%.
